CNN has an episode of Sanjay Gupta MD that was released on April 17, 2012. In this episode, Dr. Gupta speaks with Noah Shebib, who is a music producer that was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in his 20′s. He is now in a national campaign for the MS Society.
NPR has an episode of “Morning Edition” that was released on April 23, 2012. This episode is called “Children With Autism Are Often Targeted By Bullies”.
A new survey by the Interactive Autism Network found that nearly two-thirds of children with autism spectrum disorders have been bullied at some point. In this episode, Abby Mahoney, who is thirteen years old, and has Asperger’s Syndrome, talks about her experiences with bullies that used to pick on her.
NPR has an episode of “Talk of the Nation” that was released on April 12, 2012. This episode is called “Do I Freak You Out? Living With Physical Scars”.
The episode features Mary Elizabeth Williams, who has a 5 centimeter bald spot on the back of her head from cancer treatment. She views it as a badge of survival. Her daughter came home from school one day talking about her friend who was born without a left hand. The friend asked “Do I freak you out?” The episode discusses this concept.
Mayo Clinic has an episode that was released on April 16, 2012. It is called “Multiple Sclerosis Study”. In this episode, Mayo Clinic Dr. Claudia Lucchinetti talks about recent research into multiple sclerosis.
The Coffee Klatch has an episode that was released on April 22, 2012. This episode is called “Rethinking Autism – Dana Commandatore.” She is the mother of an autistic boy. She created “Rethinking Autism” which has videos for parents of children who were newly diagnosed with autism. She, and her husband Michael Broderick, host this episode.
Special Chronicles released an episode on April 21, 2012. It is called Special Talks 08: Keynote Talk at 2009 Youth Leadership Forum”. This episode is a recording of the first keynote talk that Dan gave at the 2009 Youth Leadership Forum in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The Forum was held by Special Olympics Illinois.
