Are you ready for spring cleaning? It is almost that time of year. Get a head start and make the process easier when you establish a spring cleaning checklist that works for you. Here is how to begin.
The first thing you should do is to jot down a spring cleaning checklist by room. This will makes things easier on several levels. You can easily hand off a room to someone else, such as another member of your family or hired help. Having a room by room checklist will also ensure that the most important jobs get done and nothing gets missed.
With a spring cleaning checklist, you may be able to tackle some of the little jobs ahead of time or prep areas that need significant cleaning. For example, knowing that you will be scrubbing your kitchen cabinets inside and out may prompt you to declutter unused gadgets and storage containers, making the cleaning easier later.
Jot down a draft plan that lists each room and what you would like to accomplish. Once that is done, prioritize the list into “Must Do” items, “Want to Do” items, “It Would Be Nice” items and “Maybe Someday” items. You may just want to eliminate the “Maybe Someday” items off your list right away.
Figure out whether or not you want to subdivide your list. For example, “Cleaning the refrigerator” in the kitchen might be broken down into sorting through the contents and tossing old food, wiping down the shelves, vacuuming the coils, etc.
Don’t forget to include outside tasks that need to be done in the Spring. You might as well tackle them at the same time. Cleaning the grill, cleaning patio furniture and servicing the lawn mower are some examples of outdoor tasks that can be lumped into your spring cleaning.
