Spring Cleaning Tips

Ready to do some spring cleaning? Here is a round up of tips and tricks that you can use to make everything tidy in no time.

Start your cleaning from the top and work your way down. for example, start with the highest rooms in your home and in the highest point of your room. The only exception to this is to wash walls from the bottom up. This will prevent streaking.

Carry a basket or sack with all of your cleaning tools, or station baskets with cleaning tools on each floor, so you won’t have to keep going up and down stairs for your supplies.

Never, ever mix ammonia and bleach. The result is toxic fumes that could kill you. Be aware of what your commercial cleaning supplies contain. Windex and some toilet bowl cleaners contain ammonia, while comet and other bathroom cleaners contain bleach.

If you are washing textured walls, use a nylon sock or t-shirt instead of a sponge, paper towel or terry cloth towel or you may wind up leaving bits of the material behind on the walls.

Make a checklist of all of the cleaning chores you want to accomplish, and then tackle them in logical order.

Instead of dusting knick-knacks, place them in the dishwasher or wash them in the sink, as appropriate.

If you have tough wood work to clean, or even wooden blinds, put a pair of old socks over your hands as mitts. This will make it easy to clean or dust in hard to reach or carved spaces.

Allow your cleaners to do the work for you. Apply the cleaners in one area, then work on a different area. Come back in a few minutes, and you’ll find the dirt will come up easier than if you had just applied cleaner and then wiped right away.
