Step Aerobics

I’ve discovered a new form of exercise that I really love. It is step aerobics. Step aerobics is using an elevated platform to step on and off from. Platforms can be set at different heights and there are a variety of steps that can be taken to make it interesting and fun.

Step aerobics is popular in many health clubs; however, it is something you can do at home. What I really like about step aerobics is how it allows me to do two things at one time. I can read a book if I am doing the simple method of stepping on and off. I can watch TV, even if I do a more complicated version of step aerobics like stepping on and off from either the side or front.

You can do step aerobics to music and you can exercise your arms at the same time. You might try lifting light weights while you are stepping. You could invite some friends over and have a step aerobics club. You could even take it outdoors. There are so many ways you can incorporate this into your life.

Step aerobics is great for improving your cardiovascular fitness. It exercises your heart and lungs. It is also a great way to strengthen and tone your lower body, including your buttocks, stomach and thighs.

If you really to intensify your workout then put on some music that has a fast beat to it. Or you can increase the height of the platform to get your legs working harder. You could also add ankle weights.

Step aerobics is a fun way to get fit. You can find platforms anywhere from around $30 to as high as $90. If you can’t afford a platform you could even utilize steps in your home. Try step aerobics and see how much fun this aerobic exercise can be.
