Stepping Over the Line

Have you ever seen Botox gone badly? Last week my daughter and I were watching Celebrity Apprentice. It is now down to rocker Bret Michaels and actress Holly Robinson Peete. However, first they had to undergo some tough interviewing by a former Apprentice winner and comedian Joan Rivers.

My daughter was shocked at what she saw. She wanted to know what was wrong with Joan Rivers’ face. I had to explain what too much plastic surgery can do. She is not the only one to go too far in an attempt to look younger.

Cosmetic procedures that have gone over the line are not completely uncommon. Some people have a difficult time knowing when to stop. However, Botox is not the only way to go when it comes to cosmetic fixes. You can read about Injectable Fillers and How They Work.

I really think the point of doing any type of cosmetic surgery is to look younger but in a subtle way. Dramatic results only make one problem become another. We are bombarded by images of beautiful women and we want so badly to look like them. However, in an effort to take off some years we have to make sure we don’t take it too far.

Stepping over the line occurs when we expect to look like a completely different person. There is really nothing wrong with wanting to look younger, to firm things up or get rid of some wrinkles. Yet there also needs to be a realistic approach to it. Part of making changes also needs to be a willingness to accept who we are. Sure, we can make improvements but we shouldn’t try to become someone we aren’t.

I also believe that we need to try less invasive measures before going the route of cosmetic surgery. If that doesn’t work, then go for it. But small steps that don’t take you over the line are probably the best way to achieve maximum results.
