Sticky Situation

When it comes to scrapbooking, I am all about the stickers. Not only are scrapbook stickers extremely versatile, but they are also super easy to use and the varieties are practically limitless. What’s more, for me, they often act as the inspiration for an entire layout.

I have long been a fan of Jolee’s Boutique stickers. I don’t use them exclusively, but due to their massive selection, I would estimate that 95 percent of my page designs include at least a few stickers by Jolee’s. The brand is manufactured by EK Success, which is a household name in the world of scrapbooking. Regardless of your theme or page design there is likely a Jolee’s sticker pack that can add the perfect touch. Jolee’s even sells licensed Disney and Sesame Street characters as well as popular Hasbro board games.

Whether you prefer Jolee’s or another sticker brand, it is no secret that stickers can add a real punch to your layouts. Since I prefer stickers to stamping most of my page designs are rather sticker heavy, which is not a bad thing, provided you know how to use them creatively. Some of the ways I use stickers to embellish my pages include:

Collages: Using leftover cardstock I create mini sticker collages, add a little bow, then adhere it to my layout. You can also use cardstock tags to create the collage and add it to a birthday or holiday layout.

Titles: Depending on the amount of stickers you have you could stencil letters on your page and fill them with leftover stickers. Or simply add stickers to embellish the border of your title.

Borders: Don’t stop with the title. I use stickers to create borders around the edges of my layouts and sometimes make frames for pictures with small stickers.

Bullet points: Instead of using traditional bullet points on a journaling list, substitute with small stickers, such as flowers or smiley faces.

Designs: I often create freehand designs with stickers. For example, on a page I made as part of a Mother’s Day scrapbook I used individual stickers to create an entire garden.
