Stock up on School Supplies for Crafts

Now is the perfect time to stock up on certain arts and crafts supplies for your kids, by taking advantage of those great back to school sales.

Wal-Mart has spiral notebooks for ten cents each. These work well for drawing, writing notes, practicing penmanship and spelling. I like to keep a couple in the car so my kids can write or doodle on long trips. Bring one in with you while you’re sitting in the dentist’s waiting room, or to keep kids busy in a restaurant while you wait to be served. At a dime apiece, you can keep plenty of them on hand.

You can also get Elmer’s glue for twenty cents per bottle or choose a package of two glue sticks for only twenty cents. I like to keep extras of both handy for arts and crafts.

Rose Art crayons are just ten cents for a box of 24. Better yet, Crayola Crayons are only twenty cents for the same size box. I picked up an extra box for each of my kids as well as a few more to stash. When friends visit I can pull out extras and give each child his or her own box. I’ll probably pick up a few more next time I go to the store, since I just realized they would also make good birthday party favors and two of my girls have birthdays coming soon.

Other stores are also offering great discounts on pencil boxes, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, folders, binders, labels, and children’s scissors. You can find good deals on colored pencils, markers, rulers, stencils, construction paper, and even personalized school supplies.

When you have finished filling the list of supplies each child needs for school, don’t forget to pick up a few extras to keep around the house.
