Strength

“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strength. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” -Ghandi

We are all faced with hardships in our lives. For some of us it is the death of a loved one. For another it may be loneliness. Some are faced with physical ailments, while others are struggling through a divorce. We live in a world where pain is everywhere, but where there is pain and suffering there is also joy. For every evil in this world there is something good.

The night my ex husband and I decided to divorce, I didn’t believe that anything good could possibly come from it. He was ripping our family apart, I felt like my life was ruined. Every single day was a struggle. I desperately wanted to give up. I didn’t know how I could go on. I felt like my life was over, but it wasn’t.

The pain I was feeling was indescribable. You cannot possibly understand it unless you have been there yourself. That first month, I could barely get out of bed, let alone take care of me and my two year old son. By the time the second month came around, I was starting to pick up the pieces, trying to put my life back together, finding myself again. Little by little I was finding an inner strength I never knew I had. Had I not been forced to find that strength, I’d have never known what I had inside of me. I’d have never known what I was capable of. I chose to get through this trial for me and for my son. I chose to find the strength inside myself to go on, to find happiness. I didn’t give up, even though everything inside me wanted to. Look inside yourself. The strength is there, all you have to do is find it.
