Tapping Into Your Intuition for Your Home Business

Ask anyone who’s been successful in business, or read any one of the many books written by business “gurus” and one thing that pops up again and again is how intuition and finding a way to tap into and follow those gut instincts can make a big difference in business. It may not seem very calculated or practical, but listening to your own intuition can actually help guide you in the right direction when it comes to your home business.

The trick is to figure out which voice is your authentic inner voice or guiding intuition, and which are all the other voices that are coming from other people and places. There can be “voices” that come from old bosses or teachers, or our parents’ cautioning concerns. While these people may have had the best of intentions, they might now know what is really best for our home businesses. We can get caught up trying to minimize risk, do what we think other people want us to do or what we think that a “good business person” would do–instead of what our intuition guides us to do. Reading too many books or trying to follow someone else’s business plan can definitely keep us from hearing that guiding voice.

People have started businesses that seemed crazy and ill-timed, or made choices and changes in their businesses that might not seem to make any sense to other people, but they are following a hunch or gut instinct that turns out to be a good one. Part of following one’s intuition means that we need to take personal responsibility for making our own choices and taking chances. Quiet all those external voices and those nagging voices that tell you what you should or could be doing and listen to your own inner intuition–chances are it will guide you in the right direction.
