Thankful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Today is Thanksgiving and while my family that is close is not celebrating until tomorrow I can’t help but sit down for a few minutes today and think about all the things I’m thankful for as it relates to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

First, and foremost, I am thankful that I have a loving Heavenly Father that sent his son, Jesus Christ to die for my sins. I don’t often reflect on that miracle, but I do try and be thankful for it everyday. But, when you think about it, it really is miraculous. To have Christ as my older brother to look up to and pattern my life after is wonderful.

I am thankful for eternal families. My family means more than anything to me. I love them and cannot imagine being without them. The knowledge that even death cannot separate our bonds is one that brings me a lot of comfort.

I am grateful for the scriptures. While I don’t read them nearly often enough, I know they are true, and know that they have great power in them. I know that they can be applied to the trials that we are going through everyday.

I am grateful for the organization of the church. I love the fact that we have a living prophet today that can guide us. I am always amazed by the talks they give and how relevant they are to our modern lives.

I am thankful for prayers. I don’t know how I would survive without the power of prayer. Having the knowledge that I can pray to a Father in Heaven that loves me is a thing that brings me great comfort in times of trial. But I am also thankful for it when everything is going smoothly, and I can thank Him for it all.
