The Credit Card: Deja Vue All Over Again!

Sometimes delivering a pizza can bring unexpected rewards, even as far away as Norway. Read on for a story about credit cards and ultimate justice.

With the speed of telecommunications in this modern world, Europe and America have never been closer. And now, in true entrepreneurial American fashion, comes the tale of a guy who, while delivering a pizza, noticed there was something familiar about the customer’s credit card.

In Norway, all Visa cards are required to have a photo embossed on the back, and when the 24 year old delivery man turned the card over, he saw his own picture starting back at him! It was his card and had been stolen from his car along with his driver’s license the day before! He reported the theft and cancelled the card, never expecting to see it again.

According to the Associated Press, the deliveryman, Vegard Sjaassted, said that it was “like meeting myself in the doorway. It was my picture on the back of the card.” As the manager of a Peppes Pizza restaurant, the young man was training a new driver and they were delivering a “Film Package”, which included a pizza, soft drinks, and the film, “Mr. And Mrs. Smith” on DVD.

“I wasn’t going to play hero,” he told the Associated Press. “I’m pretty calm by nature. I told him what I tell everyone: “I hope you enjoy the meal.”
After the delivery, he called the police and gave them the address on the order form. “They might as well enjoy their pizza at least for as long as it lasts,” he added.

The police arrived about a half-hour later, arrested three people and retrieved suspected stolen goods, some of it belonging to Sjaastad.
“I expect to get most of my stuff back. That is just great,” he added.
