The Fitness Blog Week in Review – September 16-22

We were pretty busy this week in the Fitness blog with a few guest spots from Kaye exploring some great topics from the Firm and more. So here’s our Fitness Blog Week in Review:

Sunday, September 17

We talked about Exercise Tips for Kids and What Can Parents Do to increase the activity levels of their children. We also talked about Women’s Fitness: Ladies, Our Life Span is Getting Longer. Women’s Fitness is and should be a concern for all of us because our lifespan is getting longer and longer. Many of our age-related conditions are a product of our longer lifespan and increased medical care.

Monday, September 18

We talked about Ring Around the Yogi and that today is the day to about the physical opportunities available to our children. Kaye asked Do You Have 30 Minutes? Why Not Try the Firm Cardio Sculpt Blaster. She’s a huge fan of the Firm and she loves to workout, but not for long periods of time. We talked about Medicine Balls – Ideal for Home Workouts and why they are a great tool for your home gym. We also talked about the fact that October is Women’s Fitness: National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Tuesday, September 19

Tuesday’s Top Ten: A Few Of My Favorite Exercises shared with you my top ten favorite exercises. Kaye discussed with you Jazzercise: It Isn’t What You Think and what she enjoyed about it. We talked about Brain Fitness: Mental Aerobics and what mental aerobics you can do to stimulate your brain. We also posted a Fitness & Health Alert: FDA Warning About Spinach.

Wednesday, September 20

I announced in Breast Cancer Awareness: Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure that I’ll be participating this year and what benefits it offers to both breast cancer research and participants. In Fitness Magazine’s You Can Do It Challenge – Month 2, we revisited the You Can Do It Challenge that we have talked about here for the last few months.

Thursday, September 21

Kaye shared her Confessions of an Avid Exerciser: My Deep Dark Secrets and how much she loves it, but what really motivates her to exercise daily.

Friday, September 22

On Friday, we talked about Fitness Notes: How Do You See Yourself? in response to Kaye’s blog from the day before. We also talked about Fitness Thoughts: What Do You Do When You Screw Up and how to handle mistakes like over training, injury and others. Finally we talked about Getting in Step with Step Aerobics and the benefits that step aerobics offers physically and biologically including improving your good cholesterol.

About Heather Long

Heather Long is 35 years old and currently lives in Wylie, Texas. She has been a freelance writer for six years. Her husband and she met while working together at America Online over ten years ago. They have a beautiful daughter who just turned five years old. She is learning to read and preparing for kindergarten in the fall. An author of more than 300 articles and 500+ web copy pieces, Heather has also written three books as a ghostwriter. Empty Canoe Publishing accepted a novel of her own. A former horse breeder, Heather used to get most of her exercise outside. In late 2004, early 2005 Heather started studying fitness full time in order to get herself back into shape. Heather worked with a personal trainer for six months and works out regularly. She enjoys shaking up her routine and checking out new exercises. Her current favorites are the treadmill (she walks up to 90 minutes daily) and doing yoga for stretching. She also performs strength training two to three times a week. Her goals include performing in a marathon such as the Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness or Team in Training for Lymphoma research. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience through the fitness and marriage blogs.
