The Friend Online

For those of you that have primary aged children, I wonder if you have heard of the Friend, online? I discovered it about a year ago, and it is a fabulous thing to direct your children to if they want to have computer time. So many kids see us on the computer all the time, and of course, they want to do everything we do. My four year old loves to be a big girl, and has already figured out how to work the mouse. It’s scary. But, if you can direct your children, to safe, wholesome places on the computer, we can teach them that the computer is our friend.

If you go to this link, you will find the Friend magazine has a ton of stuff for your kids to do. Some of the things they can do are:

*Watch videos

*Listen to stories

*Color online, or print LDS themed coloring pages

*Find and print activities from The Friend

*They even have cartoon videos for even the youngest of primary kids!

*Play Games

My saving grace has been the game portion of this website. My 4 year old can even do most of them! While she is doing a puzzle online, or playing a matching game, or even coloring online, primary songs are playing. It is wonderful. They also have hidden pictures, mazes, and spot the differences pictures. My daughter loves the mazes. You help the pioneers make it home, or help the missionaries make it to their teaching appointment. There is a timer to see if they can beat their own time, and the maze changes each time they click start over! If your child knows how to work a mouse, or the arrow keys, they can do these activities! The pictures are all church appropriate, of course, and even include stories from the scriptures and pictures of the temple. So, next time your child is bored, direct them to The Friend online. It may just become YOUR friend too.
