The Marriage Week in Review December 2-8

Good morning and welcome to our second week in review for the twelfth month of the year. Today is December 9th and we have just fifteen shopping days left until Christmas. It was a very eventful week for me since I wrote the last week in review as I detailed in several entries over the last week and for all of the kind thoughts and well wishes sent my way – thank you.

So without further ado, let’s get into our week in review:

Saturday, December 2

Is this your First Christmas as a Couple? Here’s an Idea! Sherry discusses some great ways to begin holiday traditions together. There is no time like the holidays to create person traditions that will be celebrated throughout your lives together.

Sunday, December 3

In Marriage and the Golden Rule Sherry discusses how the “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” is one of the best ways to sum up the effort to build a happy marriage and there’s a lot to be said for simplifying all the marriage tips and advice out there and if you missed reading it this week, definitely take this opportunity to read it today.

Monday, December 4

Why Does Life Have to Be So Complicated? Sherry’s family is a blended one and you wouldn’t know it unless you asked and there are times when it’s been bumpy, but she shares some great personal tales here. In Sickness & Health: Where do I start …. chronicled the health scare that marked my family’s weekend and ended it with my husband in the hospital for emergency surgery to remove his appendicitis.

Tuesday, December 5

In Who I am and What am I Doing Here? I recounted the exhaustion from the weekend as well as what the experience of my husband’s emergency appendectomy taught me. In Christmas Eve Traditions for Couples Sherry continued our discussion on traditions couples can share on Christmas Eve. In the News: Women Have Choices, Men Apparently Don’t we discussed the controversial new law passed in Michigan that would prevent a male partner or husband from leaving his significant other or wife if leaving is deemed part of a coercive effort to force her to have an abortion.

Wednesday, December 6

Why You and Your Spouse Should Create Your Own Traditions continues the discussion we’ve been having about personalizing your holiday traditions with your new family. In Christmas Weddings – Let’s Go a Wassailing there are a number of ways to celebrate a holiday wedding and some great ways to incorporate holiday traditions in your wedding planning.

Thursday, December 7

Want a great way to spend a Holiday Date Night – Celebrate with Christmas Movies. Last year, my husband and I spent the evening watching some holiday classics, laughing, talking and wrapping presents together. Sherry offered more film selections in Christmas Movies for Couples. These are all great options for enjoying the warmth of the holiday spirit. In Getting Away From it All This Holiday Season? we talked about taking a Christmas vacation away from it all.

Friday, December 8

In Christmas Cards – Don’t Forget the Beauty of Them we talked about Christmas cards and what it means to send them and to give them to your loved ones. In Keeping it Simple: What a Week It’s Been I discussed what the health scare meant for my family and how we are going to keep it more relaxed and kicked back this year. Finally, we closed the week with Marriage Debates: Here We Go Again with a summary of the decisions being reached in California and New Jersey with regard to the topics on same-sex unions.

What was your favorite story this week?
