The Most Overrated

No, no, this is not my personal list (which would surely start with Britney Spears and Hooters food), but it is a list from Radar Magazine. Who or what is the most overrated? Well, sorry to say Brits, but the magazine deemed your beloved David and Victoria Beckham as the winners of this dubious award. They said that David is an overpaid soccer star (true) and Victoria is a “pointless collection of body parts.” Ouch. I agree they are overrated, but I think they should also be #1 in the Most Overexposed category as well (along with Tom, Katie, and Suri).

What else was on Radar’s Most Overrated List? Poor cupcakes came in right behind the Beckhams. Cupcakes? Who doesn’t like cupcakes? That is just wrong! Also in the top ten were:

The miracle of Botox – Okay, I might go along on that one, but not having had Botox, I cannot say for sure.

Brad Pitt – Yeah, I never understood the fascination here. He is a good-looking guy but the fascination with him just amazes me.

Oprah’s Heart – This one made me laugh aloud. I can rather understand it – I am a bit tired of hearing about all of Oprah’s good deeds.

Going to Mars – Is anyone really fascinated with this? Is this what all the stars are signing up for?

But there is more! Radar Magazine did ranked 100 overrated things. If you pick up the magazine, you can also read that the Nintendo WWII, Steroid testing, America Ferrera’s looks, the Dalai Lama, Grey’s Anatomy (oops, sorry Grey’s fans!), Andy Samberg, blogging (wait a minute…), Justin Timberlake (oh, got to agree with this one!), and Jim from “The Office” (aw, I like Jim) are in the top 100.

How did Radar come up with this most overrated list? They actually used a mathematical formula. They took the media references from the past three months plus duration, in months, of overratedness, divided by the “inherent appeal” on a scale of one to five. For example, the Beckhams had 90000 media references in the past three months. 90000 + 96 months of marriage divided by 2 = 4848.0, this gave them the number one ranking.
