The Perfect Frugal Snack

Sometimes in the middle of our day, we find ourselves reaching for a snack. It is not uncommon in our busy society to reach for something simply because it is handy or because it was made in a snack sized container. But what if I told you there was something you could do to enjoy a delicious, healthy snack and spend pennies?

Those little prepackaged snacks are definitely not a frugal alternative at all. Most of the time you are paying more for the tiny packaging than you are for the actual snack.

I would like to introduce you to the muffin. A muffin is a healthy snack and can typically leave you feeling rather full.

Lately I have become obsessed with muffins because I realized how quick and easy they were. I’m not talking about mixing up batter and baking muffins everytime you want a snack. Where’s the speed in that?

I’m a work at home gal, and the last thing I need is to have anything else taking away from my work time. Kids are enough. So I make up a couple of batches of muffins on the weekends. I do not buy the prepackaged muffin mix, I create it from scratch because it saves even more money that way.

Then, I store them in the refrigerator and when I need a snack or a little pick me up during the day, I grab a muffin and heat it up for a couple of seconds and there I have it – a snack!

And of course the great thing about muffins is that they come in plenty of different flavors. So you won’t get tired of eating the same muffin day in and day out if you make up a couple of dozen in different flavors.
