The Pets Blog Week in Review for May 28-Jun 3

Submitted once again for your reading pleasure is the Pets Blog Week in Review. As usual, it’s your one stop shop to find the articles Aimee and myself covered from May 28 to June 3.

Monday, May 28

Sometimes dogs and cats (especially puppies and kittens) get curious and stick their heads in places they can’t easily get back out of. Pet First Aid: When His Head Gets Stuck addresses how to help them get unstuck.

Tuesday, May 29

(Um, this next one was supposed to get posted on Monday, for Memorial Day, but I goofed on getting it submitted in a timely fashion.) Did you know that before man went up in space, monkeys did? Find out about them in Remembering Animals Who Served Our Country: Abel and Baker.

Wednesday, May 30

Aimee continued her “Starting a Shelter” series by providing a checklist of all the legal stuff that goes into founding one, as well as addressing all the money stuff that goes along with it. I’m excited to say that Mr. Meow and Tabby continue to make solid progress, which means the great cat rehabilitation project is almost complete. Ears, especially for some breeds, are more vulnerable to injuries than other parts of an animal’s body. Aimee addresses ways to administer pet first aid to earflap injuries and how to determine if it’s an emergency that requires vet attention.

Thursday, May 31

I admire my dog Murph very much and decided to honor him for What You Think About Grows Day, wondering what he thinks about because I want to think like him. (He attracts an awful lot of goodness, and I’m convinced it must be because he thinks an awful lot of good thoughts!) Yikes! Aimee once caught Lally chewing on the vacuum cleaner cord, and during Mr. Meow’s first Christmas he zapped himself chewing on one of the light strings. Neither Lally nor Mr. Meow suffered injury, but Aimee tells how to administer pet first aid for electrical burns in the mouth in the event it ever does happen.

Friday, June 1

Cats, cats, cats! June’s going to be all about cats. June 1 was Hug Your Cat Day and the month of June is Adopt-A-Shelter Cat Month. If your house is at cat capacity like mine, I offered suggestions for ways to participate sans adopting.
