The Quarter, Part 3

Have you been following our hospital adventure? Read Part 1 and Part 2.

My trip to the hospital was uneventful. I was grateful for the opportunity to charge my phone up again. I found a parking space in Blue Parking right outside the Emergency Room door. I went in and the very friendly and helpful man at the desk took me back to the Asthmatic Ward where Chris and Jessie were waiting.

Jessie looked absolutely miserable. I felt so bad for her. All we could do was wait, though. We had a little TV in our station and we chose to watch The Princess and the Frog on the hospital movie channel.

Someone finally came to take Jessie for another X-ray. She was able to stand for the X-rays at the first hospital. At Children’s she had to lie on the table. She was not happy about it, but she did well. We were then taken back to our station where Daddy was still waiting.

After another long while someone from surgery came to talk to us about the measures they were going to have to take to extract the quarter from Jessie’s throat. The quarter was not moving on its own so surgery was the only option. After another long wait and more hospital personnel coming to talk to us, surgery put Jessie on a gurney and we all went to the recovery ward. We were so grateful that a nurse put Jessie’s car seat in a wheeled chair so we didn’t have to carry it.

We talked to the surgeon and anesthesia about what would happen during the surgery. The anesthesiologist gave Jessie her happy juice and then they wheeled her away. We took all our stuff and wheeled the car seat to the waiting area we were shown.
