While I’m sure that many of us took days off of our home schooling schedule to cook and eat. . .and cook and eat some more–I definitely did not take days off in the home schooling blog!
In the interest of celebrating Thanksgiving, I skipped my normal topics and blogged on activities you could do with your child to incorporate the Thanksgiving theme into your home school. Continuing with the spirit of thankfulness, I also included in this weeks blogs 10 Reasons I’m Thankful I’m Homeschooling, on Thanksgiving Day. Among my favorite reasons are that I simply enjoy my kids. What a joy it is to see them learn daily.
Our featured state this week was New Hampshire as I spent a blog talking about the laws necessary to home school legally in that state.
Finally, we finished the week with two blogs about Dr. Phil’s show this past Friday which focused on “The Great School Debate.” I had held out hope before the show (in Dr. Phil to Explore Homeschooling) that it may present a well rounded and balanced view to homeschooling. I was sorely disappointed and as we discussed in, Dr. Phil Doesn’t Get Homeschooling, the guest panel was not representative of the homeschooling community. And of course, what would a homeschooling discussion be without the big “S” question–what about socialization?
In any case, you can start to look for more themes having to do with Christmas as we approach our holiday season. I will also return (at least for a few weeks) to some of our standard favorites such as the typical course of study.
