The Toymaker – online printable toys and gifts

Today, I want to share one of my very favorite easy project websites with you. The Toymaker. Marilyn Scott-Waters is an author and illustrator. Her goal for the Toymaker site is “to help grownups and kids spend time together making things.” Her wish is “to amuse and delight”.

The Toymaker site does all of that. Even the project names are charming – “Dream Theater” and “Window to Fairyland” All the projects are simple to assemble. The directions are easy to follow. The projects only require paper and scissors. A few, like the Penny Butterfly, may require some things like pennies and tape.

You will find boats to race on your kitchen table. All they take is a breath or two to scoot into first place. If the tooth fairy is visiting your house you may to make a “Tooth Fairy Gazebo”. Animal lovers will love the stand up models of circus and farm animals.

You’ll find old favorites like “Cootie Catchers” and pinwheels. But also a 3-D “fairy wand”. The “Chocolate Truck” is a model of a shipping truck that you can hide chocolates in. Wouldn’t that be a fun surprise to put on someone’s desk? There are all kinds of tiny gift boxes for notes, candies, or tiny treasures. They are so fun to use for surprises.

There’s also a “Gifts to Make” section with charming note cards and “Thanks for Being Nice” notes. You’ll also find tiny gift bags to make, journal covers, stationary to print, and even covers for your tea bags.

Be sure to click on not only the “Free Toy” section, but also the “Holiday Section”. You will find posters, turkeys, napkin rings, wall hangings, a box shaped like a slice of birthday cake, gift tags, place cards, and much more.

It’s a charming site. The projects are free to print. So many are dear, and delightful. It’s so fun to explore the site with children. Just as a warning – you may want to stock up on color ink.
