Thinking Ahead to Spring

This week the temperature here in Wisconsin is supposed to hit near 60 degrees. Since there are still remnants of snow scattered throughout my city, this is more than just good news. This is great news and a sure sign that spring is just around the corner.

So now I am thinking ahead to a fit spring. How can I make the most of the upcoming season and the warmer days ahead?

While it has been cold I have been using my Wii Fit and treadmill. But I am definitely looking forward to getting outdoors and implementing additional types of exercise. My first goal is to get in some walking and to expand it beyond just the neighborhood. We don’t live that far from Lake Michigan, so I am hoping to take some nice scenic walks down there with my husband.

But I would also like to include bicycling this spring. It has been several years since I have done this so it will take some time to build up, but I am looking forward to trying new things.

There is something hopeful about the New Year, which is why so many of us make decisions to change our lifestyle but there is also something hopeful about spring. Spring represents new things and growth. I would prefer my growth to not be my body but a healthier lifestyle.

Have you been thinking about some ways you can incorporate exercise into your day now that spring is just around the corner? Are you thinking ahead to spring? Set some goals even now. Be willing to try something new. You might even consider joining a sports team or taking up a new activity such as rollerblading.

Start planning and thinking about not only the changes you can make personally but how as a family you can develop a healthier lifestyle. Determine to spend at least one day a week together as a family doing something that is fun and active.
