Most of the time I work in Microsoft Word, write my blogs, check my word count, and when I’m done, cut and paste.
For some reason I started a blog right up in the families.com site. It was, interestingly enough, a blog about fathering resources on-line. I wrote about half the thing, saved it for later work, and finally, a week later, after having done some more research, I was ready to get back to it.
I sat down to start typing in the URLS and opinions. But it’s a rainy Sunday afternoon here, and I’m watching my girls. So in addition to typing in URLs and opinions, I also:
* referreed a dispute over the use of toys. I told the little one that if she wanted to watch Diego she had to sit on the couch and let her big sister play with the castle and house. Eventually the two of them were found watching Diego.
* negotiated a screening of Old Disney videos for my oldest, who was tired of watching Diego.
allowed myself to be dragged into the living room to watch more Diego with youngest.
* allowed myself to be dragged into basement where oldest showed me how she was doing on the nickjr.com Diego game.
* also allowed myself to be suckered into letting oldest print her score sheet from Deigo game, running the color ink cartridge dry.
* provided snacks when asked for.
* helped set up a tea party for youngest where she basically had water in her toy tea set while she ate some sliced lactose-free cheese product and poppyseed crackers.
* read book at aforementioned tea party.
* gave snacks to oldest when she joined us and read more books, though the youngest kept us from finishing Arthur Meets the President.
Finally, perhaps an hour or two later, I am able to double-check my URLs and complete all the pithy information I could find and try to send the post in.
and because there’s been no activity (??!!!), i was booted back to the log-in. Half my work, gone forever.
Let this be a lesson to you: Don’t let your blog eat your words again!
