Three Ward Activities for Adults

When it comes to planning ward activities, it is occasionally nice to have one that is adults only. This gives all the adults a chance to interact without little ones climbing all over the place. If you do this, it is important to provide a nursery for those who would like to attend. Often all the babysitters will be taken if the whole ward wants a sitter. You can also provide an activity for the teenagers. Here are three fun and easy ideas to complete.

1) One fun idea is a progressive dinner. The planning for this idea is mainly coordination of who will be in the different groups. You should have different families host the appetizer, main course and dessert. The couples then travel from house to house to eat. This is a great way to enjoy people’s company without putting too much stress on one particular family.

2) Another fun idea is to have an adult only dance. This is a fun activity because it gives couples a chance to have some time together. A lot of couples do not take the time to date and this will give the opportunity to do that. You can plan a theme like a youth dance or focus on oldies music.

3) Another great activity is to plan a fireside. This could be a guest speaker about making marriage stronger or hints on how to raise your children. It could be simply based on a gospel topic. This is great for couples with young kids who struggle to have listen in Sacrament meeting.

On a side note I have seen the Primary and youth organizations offer babysitting on a Friday night so that couples have the chance to go out on a date. This is a great service to the couples because it gives them a chance to strengthen their relationships.
