Tips for Affiliate Marketing on Your Blog

Affiliate marketing can be a roaring success, a moderate success or it can fall flat. Often falling flat or moderate success can occur despite our best efforts. If that is happening to you then switch to another affiliate. It is perhaps an affiliate that does not resonate with your readers. However, more times than now the reason affiliate marketing fails is due to a lack of work. Affiliate marking does not succeed by placing an ad on a sidebar and forgetting about it. In fact, placing an ad on your sidebar is one of the least successful ways to spreading the word about your affiliate.

First, let’s talk about choosing the right affiliate for your blog. What is your blog about? Who are your readers? What products to you use? What products are you sharing with your readers? Answer those questions to find the most profitable affiliate for your blog. If you are a crafting blog the last thing profitable for you would be a dog food company affiliate. If you are unsure where to look for affiliates then keep your eyes peeled when visiting blogs in your niche. Look at the ads and the links in the posts to seek the best match for you. Look into the products you already use and see if they have affiliate programs. The best affiliates for your blog are those whose products you use and can stand behind.

The best way to advertise your affiliate is through a blog post not on your sidebar. If you are writing a post about your favorite apple pie recipe and you are an affiliate with a cooking company or kitchen supply company then mention the products used and link to the company in your post. Remember this is not a commercial or a review. It should be natural and genuine. If you are a homeschool blogger than look into affiliate programs with the curriculum or educational products you use. This time each time you blog about your homeschool day and mention the product you can link to the site of your affiliate. Another way to give your affiliates a boost is through doing giveaways and linking to them on Facebook.
