There are numerous times during the day, when you simply have to work individually with your older children and cannot include the little ones. For me, these are also the times when my preschooler just HAS to have my attention. Preschoolers, with their inquisitive minds and insatiable appetite for getting into things, are many home school moms’ biggest challenge.
In an effort to try and figure out how to keep my 3 year old occupied without needing my help, I developed a folder of resources and worksheets that I got free from the internet. When all else fails, she has a coloring book of somewhat educational (and lots of fun) pages to color to keep her occupied while I help my older children. Here I’ve listed my picks for the best places on the internet to get good worksheets and coloring pages for preschoolers.
1. Kid’s Domain has tons of printable worksheets in different themes. Not only do they have coloring sheets, but they also have simple worksheets and printable crafts to make.
2. At ABC Teach, coloring sheets, cut and paste, and simple crafts abound. In addition, they have printable worksheets for older kids too! While this site is definitely geared for teachers, it is usable and has plenty for you to add to your collection.
3. Bry Back Manor is probably the smaller of the sites that I use but it has very nice coloring sheets that are a little out of the ordinary. But don’t worry–they will definitely appeal to your little one.
4. Printing things from the Nick Jr. site was an absolute must from my little Dora the Explorer fan. You can choose from many of your favorite characters. They also have books and other crafts you can start and your preschool student can finish.
5. Enchanted Learning has tons of printable sheets. It is particularly helpful if you want to stick with a theme. I like to think of it as an online printable picture dictionary. You can print for free, but if you join you have access to print the images without the advertisements.
6. If it has to do with preschool, it is here at the Preschool Coloring Book. This is an excellent resource.
7. First School is organized in themes. Their alphabet pages alone are worthy of your attention if you’re looking for easy things to print for your preschooler.
8. Coloring Book Fun gets high marks for being so easy to navigate. Unlike many coloring sites, they have a small preview of any page you might want to print.
9. DLTK’s Printable Crafts for Kids has such a great selection of not only cartoon characters but other coloring pages about countries, science themes, etc. It also includes, as the name implies, printable crafts that are simple enough they can be done with little supervision.
10. This site has numerous coloring pages to your collection.
Try putting your collection in a binder or a folder to pull out easily when needed. You can also laminate some sheets and make wipe-on/wipe-off activities of your child’s favorites. Hopefully, this will help occupy your littler students until you can finish with your older ones.
