Toddler Fun In The Fall

There is a certain crispness in the air at night these days. In fact, it has been for a few weeks now but not many people have been talking about it. It is understandable that not many people want to admit that summer is coming to a close. There are probably a lot of things that you and your toddler have enjoyed this summer that you will miss doing once summer is over. The good news is that fall brings with it a whole new array of fun things that you can enjoy with your toddler.

If you live somewhere where the leaves change color in the fall, you and your toddler are in for a treat. Playing, hiking, or walking outside becomes that much more interesting as the leaves on the trees progressively change from green to a variety of vibrant hues. Your toddler is likely to find this fascinating, so brush up on a little basic knowledge of why the leaves turn color and fall down because you know that your toddler will ask you about that – perhaps more than once.

Once the leaves fall, we may dread going out into the yard to rake them up. Make the chore a little less tedious by inviting your toddler to help. There are child sized rakes and garden gloves available, and your toddler will probably be more than willing to help you rake. If your toddler needs some convincing, the mere mention of a giant pile of leaves that he or she can play in will usually encourage them to help. The joyful squeals coming from the leaf pile and the longer than usual bath that your toddler is likely to require are well worth it because you know that jumping in leaf piles is fun and exciting.

Other fabulous fall things to do with toddlers include attending country fairs and harvest festivals, picking apples, and going to corn mazes. Depending upon where you live, there are probably many other great things to try. What kinds of fun things will you do with your toddler this fall?
