Tom Cruise: Target of Tall Tales–Is He Really Keeping Kids from Nicole?

Tall Tale #1—Tom Cruise is in Talks to Star in “Top Gun 2”

Last week the Internet was a buzz with talk that Cruise had agreed to reprise his role as Maverick in the movie that sent his popularity soaring.

Could it be that 22 years after he hit mock speeds on the big screen that Cruise would try to take off again?

Not according to a spokesperson for Paramount, who quickly put an end to rumors that the studio was in talks to bring “Top Gun” back for another run at the box office.

Not only has the film been grounded, but Cruise’s rep says they is “no way” his client would ever appear in a “Top Gun” sequel.

The erroneous reports that circulated in cyberspace last week would have seen Cruise’s character returning to Top Gun school as a flight instructor.

Tall Tale #2—Tom Cruise is Keeping Kids Away from Nicole Kidman

This may not be a tall tale after all.

Anyone who has followed the split between former husband and wife Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman know that the two children they adopted together spend far more time with their father than they do their mother.

For crying out loud 15-year-old Isabella and 13-year-old Connor call their mom by her first name and call Cruise’s new wife Katie Holmes—-mom.

Now that she has her own biological daughter, Sunday Rose, Kidman is finally opening up about the strange hold her ex-husband has over their children.

In an interview with Heat magazine Kidman accuses Cruise of turning their children against her.

Responding to criticism that she doesn’t appear to spend much time with Connor and Isabella, Kidman reportedly told Heat: “It’s a pity they have been manipulated by the father to distance themselves from me.”

She added: “They are closer to their new mum now.”

In fact, Connor and Isabella were seen spending Mother’s Day with Cruise and Holmes instead of Kidman this year.

While some have pointed out that if Kidman really wanted to see her kids she would make it happen, I would say that now that the kids are teens they have more say as to which parent they want to spend time with—-and for whatever reason (okay, I can think of more than a few)—-that person is Cruise.

Still, I think it is strange that neither Connor nor Isabella has met their new half-sister Sunday yet. Kidman and Keith Urban’s daughter was born nearly a month ago and according to reports, the actress’ teens have yet to be formally introduced to their sibling.

PEOPLE magazine reported that Cruise, Holmes and their 2-year-old daughter Suri, along with Isabella and Connor sent a high-end gift basket filled with baby items to Sunday in Nashville shortly after she was born, but reportedly that’s as close as they have gotten to embracing their newest sibling.

What do you make of the Kidman-Cruise family situation?
