Top 10 Reasons to Like Summer Exercise

I talked about the top 10 reasons to hate exercising in the summer, so appropriately enough; it’s time to talk about the top 10 reasons to like exercising in the summer. If you think this list sounds suspiciously like our earlier list, then the coincidence is probably only a little imaginary.

But let’s not get all hung up on that right now and let’s talk about the top 10 reasons to like exercising in the summer:

  • It’s hot in the summer and that means it’s the perfect weather for shorts and tank tops. You don’t have to worry about freezing in your shorts when you get started on your workout or when you are sitting down to cool off
  • Kids love the outdoors and in summer time, you have the freedom of kicking them outdoors and off the television to ride bikes, play in the sprinklers, going to the swimming pool or even just throwing a ball around – the funny part is your kids don’t care if you’re any good at it
  • Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular in summer time because the cooler weather associated with those times of day are that much more precious and whether you like to run, bike or just do your yoga in the beautiful outdoors – this is an ideal time for it
  • Frappucinos, iced tea, ice-cold water, slurpees, shakes and every other frozen concoction is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon or after workout time
  • Sunshine and Happiness – the sun is bright and beautiful and the heat can be wonderful to help you achieve warm muscles and whether you are performing deep stretches or weight training
  • Tiki Torches – I love tiki torches and I love it even more when I am sitting on my back porch, late in the evening, meditating on the day and letting my mind relax to the flickering of the tiki torches
  • Outdoor cycling – As you know, I just got my new bike and we’re planning on a regular cycling date every morning this summer – quality time for us and for our fitness
  • Swimming pool time – every afternoon we’re planning on spending a couple of hours at the pool, swimming, playing water games and keeping cool (trust me, sunscreen is a must)
  • More reasons for working out in the morning – I prefer early morning workouts anyway, but in the summer, the best time is in the morning because you won’t roast – so that’s a great reason to like exercising in the summer
  • I just like exercising and maybe that’s not a great summer time reason, but I like to exercise and no matter what the season is, I’m going to enjoy exercising this summer
