Totally Hip Toronto

Toronto, Canada is a bustling metropolis situated on the north shore of Lake Ontario and home to some of the most popular music festivals in the world. The hip and happening family-friendly events draw millions of visitors to the area each year. From jazz festivals and operas to drumming competitions and guitar jams, Toronto has you covered. But that’s not the only cultural event the city has going for it.

Art lovers have their day in Toronto as well. Each year the Canadian city plays host to a massive international arts festival complete with visual art displays and numerous theatre productions. Adding to the allure of the festival is the fact that some of the events take place at the city’s most popular attractions. For example, the Distillery–a 13-acre national historic site and pedestrian-only district in an industrial area of Toronto that once was a huge distillery—often hosts art displays and painting workshops. It makes sense given that these days its stone structures house dozens of artists’ studios and galleries.

Toronto is also a Mecca for shopaholics. The city is brimming with one-of-a-kind boutiques, most of which are located in the eclectic neighborhoods that give Toronto its diverse flair. Walking tours are available in the city’s most popular neighborhoods including the Harbourfront, Little Italy, Chinatown, and Old Town. And of course, each area has its own unique set of shops. If you go don’t forget to bring a comfortable pair of shoes, but don’t worry if you forget your umbrella–Toronto has you covered—literally with PATH a 16-mile long network of underground tunnels that connect major buildings, parking, subway stations, hotels and attractions.

Finally, no trip to Toronto would be complete without taking in the views from the legendary CN Tower. The highest observation deck sits a dizzying 1,465 feet above the city. If heights make you queasy simply capture the tower on film from one of the city’s sidewalks.
