Happy Memorial Day… eve. We are a halfway through the holiday weekend and to celebrate the occasion, which is also known as the unofficial kick off to summer, I have compiled a few notable wet and wild attractions that just opened a few days ago on opposites sides of the country.
The first is located in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Just in time for the holiday weekend and the impending summer travel season–what is being billed as the largest indoor pool complex in Atlantic City–is now open at Harrah’s Atlantic City.
Its name says it all-—“The Pool”–is a 172,000-square-foot complex, which includes six Jacuzzis, a dozen cabanas and sundeck… and, of course, a massive swimming pool. The 25,000-square-foot pool sits under a 90-foot glass dome and is surrounded by $1 million in tropical plants.
The hotel hopes that the new addition will lead to a variety of theme nights (the hotel is already advertising live entertainment, including bands and dancing troupes) such as “dive in” movies and “surf-and-turf” poolside buffets.
The other hotel making a splash with its own water recreation area is the newly renovated Hilton Kauai Beach Resort. The hotel is now home to a new 75-foot flume and lava tube waterslide, and the resort is inviting you to experience it first-hand with a “Splash” special.
The travel deal includes deluxe accommodations, daily buffet breakfast, a nightly sunset cocktail hour, followed by a torch-lighting ceremony and Polynesian dance show for $139 per night. The offer is available for stays through June 30 and cannot be combined with any other package or discount offer.
Finally, if you have ever wanted to dive into a Hawaiian adventure, but didn’t know where to begin a new tool may be the answer you’ve been looking for. “Exploring Oahu,” is a new interactive online guide, which offers visitors a fun, easy way to see Oahu without having to leave the comfort of your air-conditioned home. The virtual tour offers a trip around the island with 10 stops at culturally and historically significant sites.
The tour begins at the edge of world-famous Waikiki—Diamond Head State Monument. The tour continues with stops at Kailua Beach Park, Heeia State Park, Kualoa Regional Park, Laniloa Point and Pupukea Beach Park. The tour ends on Oahu’s Waianae coast.
