You may have heard it said there are three kinds of people: Those who have been through trials, those who are going through trials, and those who are going to go through trials. Throughout the Bible we are told of the trials and tribulations to come. We live in a fallen world and none of us are exempt. Satan’s mission is simple; he comes to rob steal and destroy (John10:10).
I’m starting a series on various trials and faith. I will be talking about common trials and hardships in our lives, persecution of the Christian church, martyrs, and what we can be learned through the trials and tribulations of others.
Perhaps no one faced more trials than Jesus and Job. Jesus came to us to free us from the bondage of sin and look what was done to Him! He never harmed anyone. When we look at the story of Job, we learn of an extremely wealthy and God fearing man, who lost everything. Though the Lord allowed him to go through a horrible season of his life (please check out the book of Job), Job never cursed God. God rewarded him in the end by restoring him and all he had, then doubling it!
Most of us will never endure that kind of loss in our life. It helps me so much to know that whatever I face, my Lord understands. He’s walked this earth too. He knows people, and injustice.
My hope for everyone following this series is, you will have an added perspective of the trials of life and the faith it can produce. Trials seem truly to be a refining process to perfect us. I think when we have a clearer understanding of what it actually happening, it’s easier to get through it.
