Tucker Carlson Leaves MSNBC

I really only know of Tucker and his infamous bow tie from his stint on “Dancing with the Stars” (short though it was), but now you will not even be able to turn on MSNBC to see Tucker Carlson’s show “Tucker.” The show began in June 2003, but MSNBC just announced its cancellation today. Tucker will remain at MSNBC as a campaign reporter.

Tucker is the son of Richard Warner Carlson, himself local news anchor in Los Angeles. He was also the director of the U.S. Information Agency and an ambassador to Seychelles, so maybe that is how Tucker got his interest in political commentary. Tucker attended Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, receiving a degree in history.

He started his journalism career as part of the editorial staff of Policy Review, a conservative journal. He then worked as a reporter for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in Little Rock, Arkansas. He joined CNN as the youngest anchor in the history of the network. He hosted several shows, including the popular “Crossfire,” a political debate program. While at CNN, he also hosted “Tucker Carlson: Unfiltered” on PBS from 2004 until 2005. Carlson is a columnist for both Reader’s Digest and New York. He also writes for Esquire, The Weekly Standard, The New Republic, and The New York Times.

It is not as if Tucker will have much down time from television. Variety announced that Tucker would host a game show for CBS titled “Do You Trust Me?,” however CBS has not announced an air date for the show.

And what about his bow tie? Last April, Tucker said on MSNBC that he would no longer wear bow ties and now wears neckties on air instead. Why did he give up the bow ties he had been ridiculed for wearing? Tucker said he just decided to give his neck a break.

I have always loved to write and Families.com gives me the opportunity to share my passion for writing with others. I work full-time as a web developer at UTHSC and most of my other time is spent with my son (born 2004). I love everything pop culture, but also enjoy writing about green living (it has opened my eyes to many things!) and health (got to worry about that as you get older!).
