I can’t get Katy Perry’s “Firework” out of my head. The song was blaring from the speakers at the gas station while I was filling up, and now all I can think of is:
Cause baby you’re a firework
Come on show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
Ugh!
I tried to purge the song from my mind by calling my friend in Texas. Unfortunately, all she did was replace “Firework” with “Cowboy Take Me Away” by The Dixie Chicks.
Great!
Interestingly, they are both love songs whose lyrics could easily be used to embellish a Valentine’s Day or wedding scrapbook layout. Simply, find a mix of love songs from different genres, including rock, pop and country, and weave your favorite heart-filled lyrics into the page design.
For example, if you are a country music fan, like my pal in Texas, then consider using the lyrics from George Jones’ “He Stopped Loving Her Today” to showcase the power of unrequited love. Jones’ classic country ballad tells the story of a man who loved his one and only until last breath; only his love was never retuned. “It’s Your Love” by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill is another option to feature in a Valentine’s Day layout. It is more upbeat and speaks to the power of love conquering all. If you have that type of chemistry with a significant other, then consider penning a few lines from the popular song near photos, and then embellish the rest of the page with heart stickers or stamps.
When it comes to country music love songs I am a sucker for “She Believes in Me” by Kenny Rogers. The 1978 tearjerker is the prefect song to embellish a page about a spouse, best friend or anyone who always has your back and will be there to pick up the pieces when your world is falling apart.
