Twelve Weeks Post Partum

I have reached another one of the post partum milestones. At twelve weeks post partum I have mixed feeling about my progress in the last six weeks. While change has definitely taken place, other aspects of my post pregnancy fitness seem stuck. Compared to my first post partum experience, I am leaps and bounds ahead the second time around, but in terms of my own self imposed goals, I am way behind.

I am continuing to exercise at least five times a week. If I am especially motivated, I will get in a workout or two over the weekend as well (most of the time our weekends are super busy). I streamlined my workout regime by adding a fifty minute intense cardio workout three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) and I am continuing my fifty minute toning workout twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursday). Having my workouts planned really helps me execute them daily and weekly. Part of my motivation for cranking up the intensity is my lack of weight loss. In six weeks I have lost barely a half of a pound, which is both disappointing and frustrating. While I have been really good about working out, I have not been very good about keeping track of what (still too many sweets … it is a serious addiction) and how much I am eating. So to ensure that I am not over eating, I am putting my food journal back into use. This is also a helpful way to curb the excessive sweet eats. I am hoping, praying, and working towards better results soon. My ultimate goal is to drop fifteen pounds which will not get me back to pre pre pregnancy weight but it will hopefully get me back in my favorite pre pre pregnancy jeans! While the weight is not melting off, I am definitely noticing that my abs are more toned and with little effort I can hold in my abs for a fairly flat looking stomach (as long as I tuck in the extra pudge and stretched marked skin). Now I am shooting for Easter to be back in all my pre pregnancy and most of my pre pre pregnancy clothes!
