Upcoming Genealogy Events – Week of March 4, 2012

Glenview Library Have you ever attended a genealogy class, workshop, or other event? They are a good way to learn more about your favorite hobby. You might make some new friends, who love genealogy just as much as you do. Here are some upcoming genealogy events that will happen this week. To find more, check your local newspaper.

On March 6, 2012, the Glenview Public Library, located in Glenview, Illinois, will hold the Genealogy First Tuesday workshop for March. It is designed to help genealogy enthusiasts to break down their “brick walls”. It will be an informal, unstructured, meeting, that will begin at 2:00 in the afternoon and end at 4:30 in the afternoon.

On March 6, 2012, the Fort Pierce Library, located in Port St. Lucie, Florida, will have volunteers from Treasure Coast Genealogical Society on hand to help you with your genealogy research. They will be there from 9:00 in the morning, until noon. Can’t make it to the library that day? The volunteers will return on March 8, 2012.

On March 7. 2012, the Massillon Genealogical Society, located in Massillon, Ohio, will hold its monthly meeting. It will be hosted by guest speaker Sandra Smith, who is a world traveler. She will talk about the secrets to traveling lightly, and on a budget, without having to give up on the best that a destination has to offer.

Also on March 7, 2012, the National Archives at Kansas City, located in Kansas City, Missouri, will hold a genealogy workshop called “Introduction to the 1940 Census”. It will start at 1:00 in the afternoon, and will continue through 2:30 in the afternoon. This event is free, but registration is required.

On March 8, 2012, the Genealogical Society of the West Fields, which is located in Westfield, New Jersey, will hold a general meeting featuring Ms. Claire Agthe, the Vice President of the Genealogical Society of New Jersey. She will share her secrets of Irish research, and give tips about how to have a successful research trip to Ireland. The meeting will begin at 1:00 in the afternoon.

On March 9, 2012, the South Mainland Library, located in Micco, Florida, will hold a 1940 Federal Census class. The class will start at 1:00 in the afternoon, and will end at 3:00 in the afternoon. It is for adults, and there is a fee of $3.50.

On March 10, 2012, the Stillaquamish Valley Genealogical Society, located in Arlington, Washington, will host an open house at its new location, (next to the former Arlington High School building). Visitors are welcome to check out the Society’s library and collection of materials. Refreshments will be served. This event will begin at 10:00 in the morning, and will end at 2:00 in the afternoon.
