Upcoming Genealogy Events – Week of May 27, 2012

May calendar Every week, there are plenty of genealogy events, workshops, and classes happening all across the United States. Genealogists who attend these events get the opportunity to learn more about their favorite hobby, to practice their research techniques, and to meet other genealogists. Here are a few of the genealogy events that will be happening this week.

On May 29, 2012, the Forsyth County Public Library, which is located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, will continue their series of nine free genealogy workshops. The fifth class is called “Using Tax Lists to Solve Genealogical Problems”. It will be presented by Linda Woodward Geiger. It will begin at 6:30 in the evening.

On May 30, 2012, The Niagara County Genealogical Society, which is located in Lockport, New York, will host a free genealogy program. It is called “Military Records and Resources for Genealogists”. It will be presented by Jim Lawson, who is a professional genealogist. It will begin at 7:00 at night.

Also on May 30, 2012, the Acadian Memorial, which is located in St. Martinville, Louisiana, will hold a Diocesan Records Genealogy Workshop. It will be presented by Barbara DeJean, who is a Lafayette Diocese Archivist. This workshop is free, and open to the public. It is recommended that you contact them if you plan to attend. It will start at 10:00 in the morning and end at 11:30 in the morning.

On May 30, 2012, the Cazenovia Public Library, which is located in Cazenovia, New York, will hold free group sessions that will teach people who to begin their family search. These sessions will be presented by Elisha Davis, a library staff member.

There will be two morning sessions. One will be on May 30, 2012, and the other will be on June 1, 2012. These will begin at 10:00 in the morning and will end at 1:00 in the afternoon. Two evening sessions will be held on May 31, 2012. One will begin at 4:30 in the afternoon, and the other will begin at 6:30 in the evening.

On June 1, 2012, The National Archives, which is located in Fort Worth, Texas, will host a free genealogy workshop. This class is called “Researching in Ancestry for Intermediate Users”. It will begin at noon and end at 1:00 in the afternoon. It is recommended that you RSVP if you want to attend.
