USB Powered Drink Warmer / Cooler

Over the past few weeks I’ve been highlighting USB devices you can purchase for your home computer that seem to be a bit on the peculiar side. Today’s wonderful USB inventions, the USB drink cooler/heater.

This USB device will heat or cool your drink while it is plugged in to your computer’s USB port. The plug and play device is perfect for people who like to take a long time with their coffee in the morning, or an even longer time with their coke later in the afternoon.

There have really been an overwhelming amount of peculiar USB devices that have come into the market recently. I’ve written blogs about a set of USB hand warmers, and a set of USB powered heated slippers I’ve seen countless others out and about however.

The USB port on your computer acts as a power source much like the AC outlet in your home. For that reason, you can technically make absolutely anything in a USB model. As someone who has a MacBook with only 3.5 hours of battery life, I would much rather run off the endless supply of power from my wall rather than the limited power in my computer, for some people these are obviously a great idea however, or they wouldn’t sell in the first place.

I’ve asked this before, but what sorts of things would you like to see USB powered? I can’t think of anything I need so badly that I would want it when I was with my computer and not near a power outlet.

Most of the things I would want would be bulky and require a lot of power to operate, which would sort of defeat the purpose of using them away from home. For instance, I could get excited about a USB microwave, or a USB hairdryer, but who would want to haul that around?
