Using Embellishments on Your Scrapbook Page

If you are new to scrapbooking you might be wondering about embellishments. What are they and why should I use them?

Embellishments add flair to your scrapbook pages. They spruce up the layout on your page and make it more eye-appealing.

The most common type of embellishment to use is stickers. Go to any craft store and you will be amazed by the selection of stickers out there. Different sizes, colors, themes, characters and designs.

Stickers can be sold individually, on rolls or single sheets of paper. Many scrapbook kits will also include stickers.

Another commonly used embellishment is die-cuts. If you have your own die-cut machine you can cut out shapes and designs. Otherwise you can purchase them from a craft store. They create an interesting look to your page and can make things really pop out.

Another embellishment used is stamps. With some stamps and a stamp pad you can create all kinds of fun on your page. Some stamps can be a simple outline that you color in. Other stamps are solid and produce a nice image on your page.

Brads and eyelets are another type of embellishment you can use to decorate a page. They add dimension and interest to your page. They also come in different designs which make using them even more fun.

Ribbon and lace can be another embellishment. They can be used to outline a picture or to create a border around your page. There are numerous ways that ribbons and lace can be used to add to your scrapbook page.

Fabric is a great embellishment to use if you want to add texture to your page. They also create a nice contrast on your page.

Although paper is most often thought of as a nice background piece, it can also be used as an embellishment. Matting pictures with paper, cutting or tearing the edges can also create a more interesting look.

So don’t just think background paper and pictures when creating a scrapbook page, use embellishments to add flavor.
