Sometimes we have several pictures that we want to scrapbook of an event and none of them really turned out as hoped. I would like to share some ideas for incorporating blurry pictures as well as photos with distracting backgrounds.
The four pictures used on this layout were taken of our daughter on Easter. I really wanted to create an Easter layout for her scrapbook, but I didn’t have much to work with because three of the pictures were taken from far away and had distracting backgrounds and the up close picture was a bit blurry.
The up close photo captured a cute expression on Hannah’s face, but it was out of focus and her hand was really blurry because she was moving it so much. To make the picture more visually pleasing, I cropped out the really blurry portions of the picture leaving Hannah’s sweet face as the focus.
The next three photos had distracting backgrounds that did not have the viewer focus in on the main subject of the page (Hannah.) To remedy this problem, I cropped the pictures very close to keep the focus on Hannah. I trimmed the pictures to all be uniform in size.
The design of the page needed to be simple since the photos were so small. If the background had been created with a lot going on, then the pictures would have been lost in the page.
I used Bazzill cardstock and Basic Grey paper to create this page. I mounted the pictures onto the Basic Grey patterned paper and then trimmed the paper and inked the edges.
For the title, I used my Quickutz hand tool and Studio font to punch the letters out of the same Basic Grey paper that the pictures were mounted on. After running the letters through the Xyron machine to apply adhesive, I attached the title to the right side of the page to balance with the photos that were placed on the left side of the page.
