When you’re a kid Valentine’s Day is basically another Halloween, except you don’t have to dress up in weird costumes order to score a ton of candy. My kindergartner is anxiously counting down the days until the Friday before Love Day. That’s the day my daughter’s class will exchange Valentine’s Day cards and treats. The students already made Valentine’s Day card boxes, so they have something to hold their stash of sweet treats.
If you are looking for easy ways to combine the card and Valentine’s treat into one convenient bundle for your kid to take to school for his classmates, then consider the following ideas:
LOLLIPOP CARDS
Materials:
Pink or red construction paper
Lollipop of your choice (Blow Pop, Tootsie Roll Pop, etc.)
White construction paper
Markers or crayons
Glue
Directions:
Fold the construction paper in half to create a card.
Have your child draw or trace a flower on the red or pink construction paper card.
Stick one lollipop through the center of the flower. You may need to use the tip of a scissors to make a small incision to allow the lollipop stick through.
Cut out a small rectangular shape from the white construction paper. Use it to write out a Valentine’s message to your sweetheart, and then glue it to the bottom of the card.
CANDY BAR CARD
Materials:
Red, pink or heart covered wrapping paper
Tape
Glue
Scissors
Full-size chocolate bar
Red, pink or white construction paper
Markers
Directions:
Wrap the full-size chocolate bar in the wrapping paper.
Cut out a heart shape from the red, pink or white construction paper.
Write a sweet note on the heart, such as, “You’re sweeter than candy” or “Have a sweet Valentine’s Day.” If you are handing them out at school, then just have your child write the name of his classmate on the card. Or a simple, “To: Jackson Happy Valentine’s Day! From: Cameron” will suffice.
Glue the heart on the top of the wrapped candy bar.
