Warning: These Valentine’s Day getaways are not for casual daters. The following travel packages feature ultra-romantic environments designed for couples that aren’t afraid to be hit with Cupid’s arrows. Taking advantage of these deals could cause your pulse to race and your heart to melt. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…
VIRGINIA
The Homestead resort in Hot Springs, Virginia is offering an All-American Weekend package for Valentine’s Day. It includes a night’s stay at the 483-room resort for $300 per night per couple. The resort is set in the Allegheny Mountains and offers spectacular scenery and even better skiing. If the weather’s clear on February 17th, the resort will treat guests to a fireworks display (time your kisses accordingly). During your stay, the 3,000-acre resort will also be operating an Olympic-sized skating rink. If you stay for two nights, the third night is free. Add breakfast and dinner in the resort’s restaurant for an additional $90 per person for adults and $32 for children ages 6 to 12. Take note: the package is only being offered from February 14-18, 2008.
WASHINGTON
The Lake Quinault Lodge located within Olympic National Forest is offering a “Romancing the Rain Forest” package for Valentine’s Day sweethearts. The deal includes a one-night stay in a room with a fireplace and a basket filled with champagne, chocolates, and strawberries. You will also be treated to the sights and sounds of one of the world’s few temperate rain forests, which is home to 300-year-old majestic trees, lush ferns, and 250 miles of hiking trails. The lodge is about a 3-hour drive from Seattle. Rates start at $169 per room per night, which represents a 20% savings off the standard rack rate. Also, the hotel’s upscale Roosevelt Dining Room, which has panoramic lake views, is taking reservations for romantic Valentine’s dinner dates. The package price is good through February 29, 2008.
MOROCCO
Jetting off to Marrakech, Morocco for Valentine’s Day might be a stretch for some, but if you want to splurge on your sweetie this is the way to do so. The Valentine’s Day package being offered by the 52-suite Octogone Terre Resort & Spa includes a two-night stay in a luxury room, a guided tour of the city, a complimentary bottle of Moroccan wine, a candlelit Moroccan dinner served in a private tent, a hammam (bath), a couples massage, a poolside lunch, an evening carriage ride through the city’s streets, glasses of champagne and Moroccan pastries, and a souvenir. The price is $2,480 per night per couple, but it fluctuates with the exchange rate between the dollar and the Moroccan dirham. Airfare is not included, but I bet a lot of appreciative hugs and kisses from the recipient will be.
