Some stores certainly don’t make saving money easy, despite what they claim. Often the best bargains are really hard to find and even harder to get. The patient shopper, however, will be rewarded with savings. Take your time when you shop, put in a little extra effort and use the following tips to save money on all of your purchases.
Isn’t it a pain to find items on clearance? They are usually somewhere off in the back, the signs are confusing (was that 30 percent off or 50 percent off on the other side of the rack), and clothing items are generally all mixed in with no regard to size or season. It isn’t that the store can’t be bothered with these items, it is that they organize the clearance items this way on purpose.
Yes, they might like to get rid of those clearance sale items, but they would much rather if you bought the current full-price or slightly discounted items instead. The stores make more profit that way.
The clearance is generally put in the back, so you have to past through all of the lovely in season and popular merchandise. You just might not want to resist it, which is what the store hopes will happen. Instead, put the blinders on and make a beeline for that clearance sign.
Likewise, stores may be hoping that you get frustrated with the disorganization of the way the clearance items are displayed (especially after walking past the colorful and organized displays of the full priced merchandise) and decide to give up on it in favor of the “better” stuff. Just remember that this month’s clearance was last month’s (and sometimes last week’s) must have items, only at a lower price.
Go ahead and take the time to weed through the bargains to find your gems, such as children’s foot pajamas for 50 cents, a pretty woman’s top for $1.30 or a pair of boys jeans for only $1.99. These are all real bargains that I have found in the clearance sections of one of my favorite national retail chain stores.
