Wednesday’s Weekly Challenge-Doodling

When I first started scrapping, I was so scared to doodle. This means, hand drawn designs, and outlines on my pages. I was so afraid of messing up. But, now, I’m a doodling maniac. I can’t help myself but doodle and draw on almost every layout. Why do we need to doodle? Well, I wouldn’t say you NEED to, but doodling can do several things for your layout.

1. It adds character. It adds a little of your personality.

2. It makes things pop. If you outline a paper, then it stands out a little more from the paper behind it.

3. It saves money. If you doodle your embellishments, then you don’t have to buy them!!

4. It tricks the eye into looking at what you want it to look at! If you doodle a lot around one thing (like your photo) the eye will be drawn there.

So, here’s the challenge for this week. Doodle somewhere on your layout. In my article, Doodle Your Heart Out there are several examples of where you can doodle on your page, and how you can start small.

Here are a few more:

*Draw scallops, stitching, or squiggly lines.

*Does your hand get a little shaky when drawing a straight line? Then, don’t! Draw a wavy one. Then, draw another wavy one right next to it. It will make it look intentional…which it is!

*Draw dots around something. Use a thicker pen to make it stand out more.

*Make a striped border. Draw a border around your photo, then fill it in with horizontal stripes

There are endless ways to doodle. So, this week, make it a goal to at least try doodling on something on you page. You might just love it!
