Week Thirty Seven

It never ceases to amaze me just how quickly the weeks seem to fly by towards the end of pregnancy. This has been a very busy week! My nesting instinct is in full force as I am finding myself wanting and needing to get everything done and organized before week thirty eight. From finishing Christmas gifts for extended family (parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and grandparents) to finishing nursery projects, to getting the house in order for the birth of our daughter, busy is what I have been!

This week I spent several days making Christmas presents and putting gifts together for wrapping which I also completed this week! Having all the Christmas preparations basically done is a great feeling especially when I am so close to giving birth.

This week I made a concerted effort to finish making the crib bumper for our daughter’s crib. It is nearly done; I just have some hand sewing to do to attach all the panels together and the corner ties.

At thirty seven weeks my body has undergone yet another change (perhaps because the baby seems to have dropped). My hips have definitely loosened up even more causing more frequent lower back and hip discomfort. While I am still just as active as I was before, I hear myself saying,”my hips hurt” more often! I decided that it was time to see the chiropractor twice a week to help with the added strain on my lower back and hips and it has helped! I have also noticed more stretch marks around my belly button. After the birth of my son, my stretch marks were easily hidden by my pants. It will be much harder to pretend that my belly button stretch marks do not exist.

I am continuing to eat healthy whole foods but holiday treats are getting harder to avoid! Tis the season for hot chocolate which I make with solid chocolate and steamed milk on cold wintry days! It is a very tasty treat that both my husband and son love (and the occasional aunt that stops by to visit)! Even though my hips have been more prone to aching, I was able to workout six days this week!
