It’s very common to hear about parents’ unconditional love their offspring. In fact, in most cases, love for a child by his parent, which is not subject to restrictions, conditions or limitations, is the norm, not the exception; but, what about a child displaying unconditional love for her mom or dad? In today’s “Me, Me, Me Generation” you don’t typically hear about kids’ abiding love for their parents, especially if said children are spoiled, entitled, enabled, or basically between the ages of 12 and 20.
So, imagine parenting a tween, who is so devoted to you, that she willing sacrifices her own life to prolong your time on Earth.
Seems hard to believe, right?
Not if you are Mridul Sarkar.
The father, who lives in the village of Jhorpara in eastern India, is dealing with pain that most of us will never know.
A few weeks ago, Mridul’s 12-year-old daughter committed suicide in order to donate her organs to him and her brother. According to reports, Mumpy Sarkar knew her ailing father and brother were in desperate need of transplants, and concocted a disturbing plan to save their lives.
Mridul is reportedly losing his eyesight, while son Monojit is battling kidney failure. However, because of the family’s dismal financial situation, the option of affording medical costs related to the transplants was virtually impossible.
That’s when Mumpy decided to take matters into her own hands.
According to local news reports, Mumpy swallowed a lethal dose of pesticide. The girl died shortly thereafter, but that’s only part of what makes this story so horrific.
Reports say that in keeping with Indian tradition, Mumpy’s body was cremated. Unfortunately, the cremation took place just one day before her parents found a suicide note explaining that she killed herself in order to have her organs donated to her father and sibling. The note was reportedly sitting in Mumpy’s bedroom, though in the chaos that ensued while trying to unsuccessfully revive her, it was overlooked, and the cremation went on as planned.
