When Will She Be Ready To Potty Train?

potties

In one of my first blogs I wrote about potty training my toddler. I insisted at that time that she wouldn’t go to high school in diapers. Now I’m thinking that she may indeed never potty train. She is still displaying none of the signs of readiness. Maybe I just need to ignore what the experts say to look for and plunge ahead armed with chocolate kisses, patience, and a lot of paper towels.

Not that long ago I bought the cutest toilet seats for Jessie to sit on and she was happy to sit on them. She was excited every time she would actually tinkle in the potty. We thought we were making progress.

I don’t know where the turning point was, but when we ask her if she wants to sit on the potty she emphatically says no. If we sit her there anyway, she is not staying. She is resistant to diaper changes too. When I tell her we’re going to change her pants, I’m met with a tantrum there as well. I feel like I’m trapped in a tower.

She knows the word diaper now and will ask for a diaper. The diaper she wants, though, is her swim diaper. I don’t think it has anything to do with the type of diaper it is, I think she wants to go in her pool.

I told my husband that we should just take a boot camp approach I read about and take a weekend to try to get it done. It would have to be a weekend that we’re caught up on work and can really pay attention to this. I should check Amazon and see if there’s a lazy parent’s guide to potty training or the workaholic’s guide to potty training.

Was your toddler resistant? What PT technique worked for you?
