Fast food restaurants often need a few extra pairs of hands, to help feed holiday shoppers. They need people to cook, serve, cashier, prepare take out orders, and clean up. They may also need extra managers. Many malls and even super centers have fast food chains or company owned restaurants inside. The number of people eating in these establishments is definitely going to increase during optimum holiday shopping periods. However, if you note that the mall or the store hours have increased, business will increase even more, so ask for an application.
Sit down and fine dining restaurants also need more help. Nicer restaurants often serve banquets, office parties, and other holiday gatherings, and need more staff to handle regular dining as well as larger parties. Hosts and hostesses may be needed to book parties and take reservations. Extra wait staff is always needed, and you may find that people tend to tip very generously during the holidays. Retail Stores
All stores from discount centers to the best department stores are obviously going to have a huge increase in customers, and while they will certainly need more cashiers, they will also need people to fill other positions that you may not have thought of. They need more people to stock shelves, to provide customer service, and if the hours have increased, they may also need more greeters, lay-away personal, and fitting room attendants. Some stores may also hire temporary help to man the gift wrapping counter instead of placing a trained employee that can be better used elsewhere in that position. Gift-wrapping sounds like a fun job.
