Who Takes Care of Who?

In previous articles, we have discussed how couples may share different personalities and characteristics. One of these such characteristics is the tendency to be nurturing.

In many cases, women tend be the nurture. Women usually take on motherly characteristics even when children are not involved. The ladies are typically better at caring for the sick and being sympathetic toward aches, pains, and bad days.

Yet this is not always the case. In today’s society we are seeing more and more women with tougher personalities and men with more caring and open personalities. In some relationships it may be the man who displays a more nurturing personality.

While both partners care about each other, in most relationships there is one person who is more in tune with the other’s feelings and well being. He or she immediately notices when the other is sick or in a bad mood or feeling blue. The person is better at playing doctor and gives much attention when needed.

The less nurturing person often misses clues and does not pick up on key occurrences that tell him or her that the mate is down. This partner cares but often does not carry the in tune thoughts of other people.

So who is it that does the better doctoring in your home? Who gets more TLC when they are sick, you or your spouse?

Who makes a bigger impact on the home when they are sick, you or your spouse? Does the home fall apart when you are not yourself or does your mate pick up the slack and run things well without your guidance?

Who is a more needy patient? When you are sick do you make the best of it or do seek your mate to complain to and for comfort?

Think about the questions above and you can learn a lot about your relationship from the answers that you give.
