Why can’t we all have Disney Weather?

I’m looking out my window here in Sweden at the huge amount of snow that the sky dropped onto us overnight Saturday/Sunday. There’s about 1.5 feet of it. What’s with that? I know that I’m supposed to live in a country that’s known for its winter weather, but come on people, 1.5 feet overnight! This wouldn’t happen in Disney!

If you’ve ever been to Disney World, you’ll know that Disney’s got it under control. They’ve even got the weather to behave! How do they do that? Ok, so yes, they do get rain. But it’s Disney rain! It’s not the real cold stuff that the rest of us get. It’s not the kind that leaves huge puddles that are hard to negotiate. It’s not the kind that leaves picnic tables unusable for the rest of the day. It’s not even such a negative thing – in fact, Disney rain has been designed specially to provide a refreshing interlude to Florida’s heat!

If you go to a Disney park during Florida’s stormy September season, you are almost guaranteed some rain if you’re there more than a day or so, but even if you’re floating around one of the water parks on a large inner tube, wearing nothing but a swimsuit; you’ll enjoy the brief torrential downpour. Even if it lasts longer than a few minutes, it’s a great opportunity to visit one of the indoor attractions – and upon leaving the building, you’ll go outside and find little or no trace that it ever rained at all! I’m sure that the same could be said about any snow they ever received – it would be turned into some kind of positive exhibit …Minnie and Mickey would be skating/ski-ing and no-one would have problems getting out their front door!

As many countries are facing snow problems at this time of year, there must be more people than me wistfully thinking about walking down Main Street, USA with the sun on my back and a light sprinkle of Disney rain gently cooling the top of my Eeyore baseball cap!
