Wicked – The Musical
My daughter, Savanna, asked for CD’s for Christmas, and while she got the regulars like Hilary Duff and those kinds, she also received the soundtrack from “Wicked”.
“Wicked” is a Broadway musical about how the wicked witch of the west (Elphaba) and Glinda the good witch from “Wizard of Oz” became friends. It details their meeting at Shiz, a boarding school and at first glance they loathe each other. Eventually, they become great pals and Glinda helps Elphaba on her journey to meet the wizard.
The soundtrack itself is wonderful, and easy to learn. It gives girls a chance to listen to real music outside of just pop and hip-hop.
My daughter has also spent a lot of time researching “Wicked” online, and has developed an interest in someday singing in a Broadway show herself.
Some of the better songs include, “Popular”, “Defying Gravity”, and “Wonderul”.
It’s a little pricier than most CD’s, but worth it.

Barlow Girl – CD
This is by far my favorite CD that my daughter owns. I would recommend this to anyone. It’s a Christian rock group, with the right words and the right “edge”. It’s fun to listen to, easy to sing to and promotes a great message. Barlow Girl is a rock group consisting of three sisters who sing and rock out with the best of them. The lead singer has pipes that I haven’t heard since the Dixie Chicks came on scene.
There are two CD’s out, the first one is called, “Barlow Girl” and the second is called, “Another Journal Entry”.
